Muriel Martin Fundraising Society (MMFS)

Muriel Martin Fundraising Society (MMFS) raises money for projects in and around the school with the goal of enhancing learning opportunities for students. Many of these projects result in purchases that remain at the school, including:

  • chromebooks
  • climbing wall in the gym
  • band equipment
  • playgrounds

All parents or guardians of students attending Muriel Martin are members of the MMFS and are invited to participate in the Muriel Martin Fundraising Society. Meetings are held according to the schedule below and are now held via Google Meet or in person. School Council Meeting time is 7:00 p.m. and Fundraising Society Meeting follows at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Who We Are

Any person having a vested interest in the educational well-being of students enrolled in Muriel Martin Elementary School is a voting member of the Society. This our current executive:

Fundraising

Here are some examples of our fundraisers.  Send us a message if you would like to get involved.

 

Order or cancel online up to five days before the menu day. Hot Lunch is distributed on Thursday. If you'd like to help distribute food to your child's classroom, contact your teacher. If you'd like to help prepare the food bins, contact Catherine at mmhotlunch@gmail.com To place or change an order. If your child is absent and you have ordered Hot Lunch, please contact the Muriel Martin Fundraising Society. The school will not be holding food for pick up.

Art Cards: Alternating Winter/Spring

Students create art projects during class, which are published into an order card. Parents can order art cards as well as other products such as magnets, notebooks and plaques!

 

BBQ - Back to School

A BBQ meal is served from 5:00-6:15 p.m. early in September. Classroom tours are from 6:15-6:45 p.m..

 

BBQ - Year End

A BBQ is held on the last Wednesday or Thursday of school.

 

Boston Pizza:

Submit your meal receipts to the office. Boston Pizza gives the MMFS 5% of pre-tax sales. Emailed receipts for online orders can be sent to murielmartinfundraising@gmail.com. Skip the Dishes receipts are excluded.

 

Concessions

Choose, purchase and prepare the concession items for the September Family Night, October Halloween Dance and May Division 2 Track & Field Meet. Prepare the schedule for volunteers.

 

Farm to School:

Order fresh vegetables for yourself or the Food Bank. Personal orders will be delivered to the school in time for Thanksgiving, while food bank orders are delivered directly to the St. Albert Food Bank.

 

Halloween Dance:

Scheduled for the Friday before Halloween, all students and families are invited to the Halloween-themed dance. There will be a DJ and concession, as well as wonderful Halloween backdrops for photos.

 

Yearbook:

Our designer begins work on the project as early as December. Books are sent home in June.

 

Mabel's Labels: all year

Mabel's Labels gives the MMFS 20% of pre-tax sales. Simple visit their website, select Muriel Martin Elementary School from the list and start shopping!

Bottle Drives/Skip The Depot

We hold bottle drives periodically during the year. You can also book a Skip The Depot pick up all-year-round using this link https://app.skipthedepot.com/murielmartin and the promo code RECYCLEEASY and your donation will be credited to the Fundraising Society.

 

Spell-a-thon

Kindergarten students are quizzed on their knowledge of the alphabet, while students in Grades 1-6 complete spelling tests. Students collect pledges, with all funds being donated to one of three areas: physical education, music or technology.

Our Projects

Every year, the MMFS discusses and selects projects to fund. In recent years, we have purchased  chrome carts,  band equipment, a screen  and AV system for the gym and the character ed t-shirts that students win for receiving Dino Draws.
