During her 20 years in the division, Muriel Martin pioneered many educational innovations. She was instrumental in introducing Kindergarten, French Immersion and adult education programs in our schools. When Mrs. Martin was appointed assistant superintendent in 1970, she was the only woman in Alberta to hold that position. She believed in life-long learning and encouraged aspiring teachers in their studies with personal and financial support. In later life, she took enormous pleasure in visiting "her school". She passed away in 1995.
